Robert G. Armstrong, Chair

Bob Armstrong founded Armstrong Energy Corporation (AEC) in 1977. He received his AA degree from New Mexico Military Institute, his BA from Washington & Lee University and his JD from the University of Texas School of Law. In the past he has served on the Board of Directors of PNM Resources, New Mexico’s largest publicly traded company, and served as Chairman of the Board of Sunwest Bank of Roswell. He currently serves on the Board of Directors as a past president for the Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico and is a member of the National Petroleum Council.

 

Kyle Armstrong, President & CEO

Kyle joined Armstrong Energy in 2016. A native of Roswell, NM, he is a proud graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and holds a JD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. Within the industry, Kyle currently serves as the President of the Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico and sits on the Oil & Gas Advisory Committee to the New Mexico State Land Office. He is a Director for the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation and is a former chair of New Mexico Appleseed, a non-profit focused on addressing poverty in New Mexico. Kyle and his wife Yasine reside in Roswell with their three small children.

 

Ray T. (Tom) King, Jr., Vice President of Exploration

Tom joined Armstrong Energy in 2006 as VP of Exploration. Prior to AEC, Tom spent 25 years as a geologist with Elk Oil Company, which was later acquired by Armstrong Energy. He has a B.S. in Earth Sciences from the University of Arkansas and completed all of the necessary course work and competencies towards an M.S. degree in Geology from Northeastern University in Monroe.

 

Mary Alice Lysak, CFO

Mary Alice joined AEC in 2004 as CFO, after spending nearly 12 years as a public accountant with Ritter and Company, LLC of Roswell. IN addition to her C.P.A., she has a B.S. in Accounting from New Mexico State University. Mary Alice is also on the Board of Directors for the Roswell Museum and Arts Center Foundation.

 

Ron Hillman, Vice President and General Counsel

Ron joined Armstrong Energy Corporation as Vice President and General Counsel in 2012. He received his B.S. in Range and Livestock Management from the University of Idaho, and his J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2007. Ron currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico, the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Landmen’s Association, and is a member of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation.

 

Kyle Alpers, Vice President for Engineering

Kyle is Vice President of Engineering for Armstrong Energy Corporation and joined the firm in 2012 as a Field Engineer. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He has 15 years of industry experience serving in positions in operations, production, drilling and completions, and natural gas processing and gathering. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers – Roswell Section.


Kevin Klein, Land Manager

Kevin joined Armstrong Energy in 2013 as a Landman with 9 years of experience including in house and field land work. Kevin received his education from Texas Tech University in Animal Science and worked in the farm and ranch industry for about 4 years before moving to the Petroleum Industry. He is a member of the New Mexico Landman’s Association, Permian Basin Landman’s Association, and the American Association of Professional Landmen. Kevin also serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Eddy County Fair Association.
